Like a River

“Peace is an inner rest, contentment, security, and hope that stems from an active trust in the presence, power, rule and grace of Christ. It is a habit of daily rest in Christ.” (War of Words, p. 191)

When faced with someone else’s sin, we can rest because it is God’s love that has brought that person’s sin to light, not wonder what else they are hiding.

When faced with unexpected upsets to our life plans, we can rest, not worry and fret, because it is God’s goodness that has changed our path.

Remember, God does all this for our good and His glory. These two motives are inextricably bound and He will not sacrifice one to elevate the other. Take comfort and rest in God’s supreme goodness today.

Thanks. How does this apply to this post? I was supposed to go to a good friend’s wedding today, but I woke up this morning at 4 am and got sick and threw up. I still don’t feel good and had to miss the wedding.

I thought of the things I learned from this post and was very glad that the Lord knows why He planned this. It’s nice to have a reason not to get upset about things like that.
