Our culture is saturated with the ideal of beauty. Women, especially, feel the pressure to conform to image demands. So, what do we as Christians worship? In our hearts and minds, we readily agree that we worship God’s ideal for beauty (Proverbs 31 being one) but what is our practical theology of beauty? In other words, what do we live?

Samuel Brengle once wrote, “there’s an infinite difference between the beauty of holiness and the holiness of beauty. One leads to the highest, loftiest most Godlike character; the other often-too often-leads to an orgy of sensation.”

So, ladies, even though our appearance, weight, and conduct will continually be close in our minds, what do we worship? Do we view holiness as beautiful or do we view beauty as holy? Rearranging a few words makes a vast difference.
